Playing in Lightroom

So, these pictures are the same picture. the top one is the original picture that i took, and after playing with it in Lightroom, i got it to look like it does. I like the second picture better because you can see the fabric that the flower is made of, which i think makes it better.

Final Assignment idea

well. i had a previous idea on here, but after talking to mark, i've decided on something else!

My plan for the final project, is heartfelt/homemade love.
to elaborate on this a little more, the plan is to do the series of pictures on making gifts by hand instead of going to the store and simply buying something as a christmas gift.  My mother and I usually make a basket for each 'branch' of our family tree. since there is ALOT of them, we make them instead of buying them.  We make soup mixes and bread mixes and all kinds of different dry jar(ed) foods.  my plan is to make the series about the steps it takes to do this.

Barn HDR

This is the first picture that i changed into HDR format. it didn't take me that long to get it to where i liked it. The original picture didn't have nearly as much detail in the wood grains and the white of the door wasn't as vibrant either.

Stormy skies

This is the second picture that i made into an HDR image.

Apple Road

This is the picture i layered.  It was a picture of my brothers and I apple picking. I layered it onto a picture of a road that i had laying around in lightroom!  I thought the picture made it look like someone had come across the three of use as we crossed the street with our apples!

Hope you enjoy!

William Eggleston

I looked at the Eggleston prints and i liked them all, but the one i chose for the assignment was the one of the car chained to the phone poll., with the trash around it. It made me think about how the world really hasn't changed after the time that has passed. I liked the way the picture isn't depressing off the bat but when looked at for a while becomes almost sad in the fact that no one has picked up the trash.

The run around....

This is a picture of my friend Candace and her horse Pajama Party (aka PJ). I took it at the barn she was boarding her horses at. She had gotten PJ ready to ride, then decided she didn't want to ride her, which is why i named this 'the run around'.  ENJOY!

it's still, still photography

Kirsch said in the assignment explanation, that photography has an inherent power to make significant such simple acts as standing in front of a building and making a portrait. but why? what gives the still photograph such import?

Still photography to me, gets its substance from the emotion behind the picture. If someone feels strongly about the picture they are taking, often times it is conveyed in the picture. At the same time whether the picture is taken in color or black & white can cause different emotions. As it is said, a picture speaks a thousand words, i think it fits into this question. :)

I hope this is enough, im not ure how much we were suppose to have

My Expectaions

I expect to be taught something in this class, while still having fun.  I want to be able to use programs with ease, and take more pictures than i already have.
